The Hereford junior harrier set a blazing trail, yet
again at last weekend’s Bull Run cross country invitational, winning
the overall title of the girls’ elite race on her home course for the
second consecutive year.

Malloy
crossed the finish line 54 seconds faster than the next closest
competitor, Melissa Frick, of Strath Haven, Va., setting a course
record for the second straight season and leading her squad to a third
place overall finish in the race.

 An
‘A’ student, Malloy’s time of 18:39.92 seconds eclipsed her mark of a
year earlier of 18:39.9, according to The Baltimore Sun.

Hereford’s Kristen Malloy (above) broke the course record at  the Bull Run for the second straight season.

Malloy, a five-time All-Metro selection who was third
at last year’s Class 2A state cross country championships, already was
among the state’s premiere runners as a freshman.

She captured indoor track titles in the 200-meters in
Class 3A-2A as a ninth-grader, and, as a 10th-grader, the outdoor
crowns in the 200 meters in Class 2A.
